Government Oversite

Welcome to the Carroll County NH Commissioners meeting from 6/12/13. Commissioners: David Babson, David Sorensen and Asha Kenney collectively administer the business of the County. The Board exercises budgetary control over County operations and prepares the annual budget for the approval by the County Delegation. The Board met at the County Administration Building, 95 Water Village Rd, Ossipee and began this meeting at 8:30 am.


00:45 Commissioner David Babson offers a motion to rescind a previous board vote that required 2/3 rds vote to seek legal council. The new policy will allow any commissioner on their own to seek legal council without a vote; argument ensues between Kenney and Babson;

07:48 Commissioner David Sorensen reports that a new Human Resource director; Wynette Degroot; has been selected and that the chairman has negotiated a salary of 53,000. After 6 months her salary will move to 55,000; Kenney questions the process; the Commissioners vote as a whole to accept the rate of pay and to hire the new HR Director.


12:52 Howard Chandler announces that Erin Higgins, an LNA (Licensed Nursing Assistant) working at the New Mountain View Community (Nursing Home) has been awarded LNA of the Year.


15:59 Commissioner David Sorensen offers a County Proclamation that 6/12/13 is Erin Higgins Day; the commissioners also gave Erin Higgins a plack and flowers;

1:13:00 Commissioner Babson asks for an update on the 91a (Right to Know) requests that were submitted by Melissa Seamans of the Carroll County Independent; Background: Melissa Seamans had requested information under the statute 91a right to know law. They were not fulfilled as the law requiers and a law suit was filed at the Carroll County Superior Court; Seamans comments that she will not discuss the items that are involved in legal proceedings;
